This week is a great time to see comet NEOWISE. It’s visible before sunrise (I saw it at 5:00 AM this morning) in the northeast and just after sunset (around 10PM) in the northwest. See links here and here for detailed finder charts and rise/set times. The helipad is a good place for evening viewing although trees got in the way later and for before dawn viewing our deck worked well this morning. In the coming days it will get higher and later in the evening. It will be about 10 degrees above the mountains – which is about the size of your closed fist held at arm’s length. Although visible to the naked eye at a really dark site, any small binoculars will give you a great view. i managed to get one somewhat blurry photo from the helipad last night.
